Our magnificent state of California is in trouble. Our state spends 1/2 of its revenue on education, yet we’re ranked 47th out of 50 states. California ranks as the 8th largest economy in the world, yet 17.6% of the workforce is either unemployed, underemployed or has given up. The people of California deserve better. Our state government has let us down for far too long. It’s time to elect representatives to our State Assembly and Senate who will not just play follow the leader as majority has done for far too long.
My name is Chuck Page, and my commitment to the people of California, and especially the people of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and a large part of San Jose, is that I will not accept the status quo. Our state needs to manage itself far more responsibly, especially fiscally. Our state has an unfunded liability of $600 Billion related to retiree pensions and benefits. Governor Brown has actually managed things well over the past seven years, working to create a rainy day fund that after this year will have a total of $1.5B in it. In his 2016 May Budget Revision (the “May Revise”) the Governor pointed out that budget surpluses are often followed with years of deficits. These deficits come from our “progressive” legislators implementing programs with one-time surpluses that result from balanced budgets and more conservative planning. We must pay down our debts, be responsible to our retirees and only implement programs that have sustainable sources of ongoing funding. And frankly, those sources need to STOP being the citizens of California. We’re taxed enough. Use the funds wisely, stop frivolous government spending and there will be plenty to go around.
I will not play follow the leader, but I will communicate with the people of my district, and other Californians, to let you know what wasteful things are being done at our state government level. Elect me and let’s start making a difference for California. We deserve better. We deserve Action. We deserve leadership, and I will do my best every single day to provide it. My door will always be open, I will work with all sides to ensure that I understand the issues clearly, and I will make independent decisions to better our state for the people of California. And I believe in people, so I will work tirelessly for you!
