Preserve Saratoga Hit Pieces
Several Saratogans have asked why the small group called "preserve Saratoga" continues to publish negative things about me. |
They don't like independent thinkers who study the issues, listen to people and make good decisions. Instead, they prefer council members who don't know how government works, don't understand the issues and can act as their puppets if they get elected. I call this group "Destroy Saratoga".
They lack vision and always take the most extreme measures in their actions. They constantly get the facts wrong (on purpose?). Here are a few examples of their most recent fabrications and demonstrations of their lack of vision: I never owned a van, never put slogans on a van. There was a council member that did, but it wasn't me, and it happened during a year that I was not a candidate. PS accused me of working with another council member to "log and flatten our city parks" to build AYSO soccer fields. Besides being a gross exaggeration of history, the discussion about possible locations for additional soccer fields took place before I ever got elected to the City Council. However, after I was elected, at my very first meeting, I initiated the discussion to ensure that the Heritage Orchard stayed a Heritage Orchard. Rt 85 lanes - I was off of the council when the Rt 85 lane discussion occurred, so I certainly was not involved in any discussion about Rt 85 lane configurations and could not have worked "behind the scenes" to do anything related to them. I do recall that Saratoga was the ONLY city to sue VTA, but of course the few people that are left in preserve Saratoga don't have enough wherewithal to do any research and actually get the facts correct. Cox & Saratoga Ave Alzheimer's Care Facility - Preserve Saratoga fought against this modest Care Facility being built, as did the owner of the vacant parcel that adjoins it, including the Pumpkin Patch. I supported the Alzheimer's Care Facility because it is a very modest use of that vacant space. I'd rather see a modest care facility than high density housing or a multi-story office building or hotel. But preserve Saratoga fought against it - again, a total lack of vision of the consequences of their actions. Mountain Winery - I am a huge advocate of local control over land use that will affect our city. I never supported a hotel at the Mountain Winery. Preserve Saratoga fought against Saratoga annexing the Mountain Winery, leaving all control over future development to Santa Clara County. There is, at most, only one County Supervisor who cares about Saratoga, and Saratoga is such a small part of the supervisorial district that even that is questionable. If the Mountain Winery wants to add a hotel, all they need to do is get 3 Supervisors to agree. And all they need to do to get them to agree is to state that the building will be done by 100% union labor. And Saratoga will have absolutely NO say in the matter. The person who made the last post on Nextdoor (initials CJ), was forced to resign from the planning commission because of her xenophobic comments. Is that really the kind of person you want controlling your city council members? Vote Chuck Page for independent, experienced, compassionate leadership. Just say NO to extreme lack of vision and the puppet government that PS (preserve Saratoga) wants for you. And, while we're at it, please vote NO on Measure C. Don't let PS take away your right as a voter to choose the council member of your choice. Experience matters when there isn't any. If you were having your knee replaced, would you choose the doctor who had never done the surgery before? If you're remodeling your home, would you choose the contractor with the least experience? City Government isn't surgery, but it's very complex. Choose experience and don't let a council that has spent the better part of three years behind a Zoom screen keep you from choosing a council member in the future. |
